Novo CND está localizado no data center Tier 3 da Elea, em Brasília, que lidera a troca de tráfego da região e opera com 100% de energia renovável
ARede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa RNP, vinculada ao Ministério da Ciência Tecnologia e Inovação, em parceria com Elea Data Centers, uma plataforma de data centers sustentáveis com a maior capilaridade do Brasil, passa a oferecer mais um Centro Nacional de Dados (CND) para as instituições de ensino e pesquisa do Sistema RNP. Formalizado por meio de um acordo de cooperação técnica, a infraestrutura do novo CND está localizada no data center Tier 3 da Elea, em Brasília, que lidera a troca de tráfego da região e opera com 100% de energia renovável.
A iniciativa ampliará o serviço de colocation para a comunidade acadêmica do Sistema RNP, oferecendo uma infraestrutura confiável, segura e de alta disponibilidade para hospedagem de equipamentos e armazenamento de dados. O novo equipamento também permitirá novas ofertas e modelos de negócios, como nuvem híbrida comunitária, Inteligência Artificial, Computação de Alto Desempenho (HPC, na sigla em inglês), entre outros.
“Esses são alguns exemplos de serviços e tecnologias que podem ser disponibilizados às instituições do Sistema RNP como uma base sólida para transformação digital e o avanço científico no país”, destacou o diretor de Serviços e Soluções da RNP, Antônio Carlos F. Nunes.
Uma das frentes do Programa Conecta do MCTI, os Centros Nacionais de Dados do Sistema RNP recebem recursos do Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (FNDCT).
O primeiro CND foi inaugurado em 2024, em São Paulo, no mesmo modelo. “Isso facilita o acesso a recursos avançados de TI, promove a colaboração científica e tecnológica e apoia o desenvolvimento de pesquisas que demandam processamento e armazenamento de grandes volumes de dados”, enfatizou Antônio Carlos F. Nunes.
A expectativa é a de que o centro em Brasília entre em operação no primeiro semestre deste ano. A RNP planeja inaugurar um novo centro em Fortaleza, no Ceará, com previsão para entrar em operação no segundo semestre de 2025.
Sustentabilidade
Assim como a RNP, a Elea também se preocupa com a sustentabilidade, com foco nos aspectos ambientais, sociais e econômicos. “A parceria contribui para a sustentabilidade energética, pois o data center em Brasília opera com 100% de energia renovável, além disso a empresa é reconhecida por suas ações efetivas relacionadas à sustentabilidade energética alinhando-se às práticas de responsabilidade ambiental e eficiência nessa temática”, ressaltou Antônio Carlos F. Nunes.
